PART of Sigatoka Town came to a brief halt this morning when the front of a truck transporting fruit and vegetables made a sudden dip into the main road.
The driver of the truck, who preferred to remain anonymous, said he and his wife were travelling to the Sigatoka Market at 6.15am when their two-tonne truck suddenly started sinking in front of Tappoos.
The driver of a vehicle travelling behind the truck, Abhay, said it was like a scene out of a movie.
“All of a sudden the truck’s back wheels came up and the front sank into the road and water started coming up,” he said.
The Fiji Roads Authority said the incident was caused by a burst water main.
