Over $1million found in fake doctors accounts
1 point 3 million dollars has been found in various bank accounts of the man who was allegedly posing as a doctor. These details were revealed in court today, when accused, Param Vir Maharaj appeared facing three charges of allegedly operating as a doctor. Police Prosecution revealed in Court today that the CID Unit uncovered a total of one point three million dollars held in three separate bank accounts belonging to the accused. The accused represented by his Defense Counsel Ravinesh Goundar filed for a second bail application today. The Defense Counsel argued in Court that the accused was willing to surrender his passport and also provide two sureties. Prosecution opposed the bail plea arguing that this case involved a staggering 126 victims. Meanwhile, the folder cards and details of 126 patients were found at Maharaj’s residence, where he was illegally operating from. He is facing one count of using the title ‘doctor’ without being registered as a medical practitioner, Contrary to the medical and dental Practitioners Act. He also faces a third charge of obtaining a financial advantage of eight hundred dollars from a member of the public. The accused has been further remanded in custody until 2nd November for bail hearing. –
