Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy says he will not meet parents who are reportedly against government’s decision to convert the Nadroga/ Navosa High School into a technical college.
Reddy made the comment following claims by Opposition Member Viliame Gavoka that about 240 people including parents have signed a petition against the plan.
Reddy says there are procedures in place for parents to take their grievances.
If there’s an issue with the parents they should go and talk to the Nadroga/Navosa Provincial Council to change their decision, the petition that Honourable Gavoka has presented to the parliament that petition should be presented to the council as they are the owners of the school.
Opposition MP Viliame Gavoka recommended letting the committee of the parliament sit and hear the views of the people of the Nadroga/Navosa province.
He told FBC News people from one end of Nadroga/Navosa to the other are expressing some very strong opinions against this change.
However Reddy says the Nadroga Navosa Provincial Council has the final say and as of this point in time, they have agreed to the change.
