Call to back off FSC operations
GOVERNMENT should leave the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) alone.
This sentiment was shared by FSC shareholder Saimoni Lutu during his submission to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on the Reform of the Sugar Cane Industry Bill.
Mr Lutu said Government support weakened FSC and it also undermined the strengths of the sugar industry.
“Government should get out of FSC.
“They should act as independent referees and leave the industry alone as we have potential in the industry.
“My suggestion would be for the Government to act as a referee and they can do this by buying a golden share with FSC and let the shareholders who have their money there work it out,” Mr Lutu said.
