Another pair of feet chopped off in the same manner and wrapped in the same type of netting as the first pair found on Friday was discovered at Natadola Beach yesterday afternoon.
The discovery was made in about one foot of water and about 150 metres from where the first pair of feet was found.
The second find is believed to be that of a woman’s feet and although Police were keeping a tight lid on the discoveries, raising speculation that they could be linked to missing Russian couple who had disappeared since June 16.
Yuri Shipulin and his wife, Natalia left their farm in the hills of Kachiquari, which is off a feeder road on the way to Nausori Highlands, in Nadi, sometime after midday on that day.
Gaberieli Seru, a jet ski operator and diver based at Natadola Beach and employee of Sunny Water Sports made the second discovery.
Mr Seru said it was about 2pm yesterday after he had finished his lunch aboard one of their boats.
“I went ashore and was making my way back to a jet ski when I stood on something and looked down and saw the similar type of netting in the water,” Mr Seru said.
“It looked like a woman’s feet.”
He immediately alerted Police divers, who were then searching the nearby waters; they came and took the body parts ashore.
After they went missing on June 16 the couple were spotted a little later at Denarau Island having some drinks.
Later that same afternoon, the couple’s vehicle, a grey metallic Toyota Land Cruiser, bearing the registration ‘PILOT’, was found at Natadola Beach, the doors unlocked with the keys still in the ignition.
It is believed Police found clothing and a woman’s passport inside the vehicle belonging to Natalia and which was said to be the one she was wearing on Thursday.
Police later discovered some sand in the couple’s second vehicle, a blue twin cab registration HE 403, which was parked at the farm and sent some samples for testing.
On Friday the first pair of feet was found wrapped in netting usually found at greenhouses and weighed down by about five stones.
It was held together by a blue fishing line, the same type and colour found on the same type of netting discovered yesterday.
Meanwhile, a Caucasian who had been questioned by Police since last Thursday was released yesterday.
A team of detectives and Police officers were continuing to search the couple’s farm for clues which may explain their sudden disappearance.
Investigations are continuing.
