THE Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Limited (FSHIL) has begun boat building in Fiji.
A statement by the company isssued today said because of the continuous reports of loss of lives at sea and fibreglass boats capsizing that they began boatbuilding to ensure the standard of fibreglass boats were not compromised.
Operations manager Lopeti Radravu said what made their products different for any other boat builder in the country was that they followed the standard requirements and ensured they abided by the Maritime Aids to Navigation Regulation 2014.
He said their boats were also fully equipped with Life Saving Apparatus as per requirements by the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) requirement, as well as the Fire Fir Apparatus.
He assured members of the public that FSHIL would also ensure all boat buyers registered with MSAF.
