Best Christmas gift.
For Christmas, Bairon Garzon, 29, gave his kidney to his girlfriend, 27, Raquel Gomez.
Gomez has Alport syndrome, a genetic disorder that can eventually lead to kidney disease.
Since September of 2014, Gomez has been on dialysis, hooking up to a machine each night through a tube in her stomach for 10 hours at a time. She needed to be connected to the machine by 9 p.m. each night.
Last year, on Christmas day, Garzon proposed.
While most proposals are difficult to top, we think his Christmas gift this year might do the trick.
“When you see her every day going through the same experience, dealing with the machine . . . I wanted to get tested,” Garzon said
“You’re a match made in heaven,” the nurses told them.
“I tell him every day, he’s my hero,” Gomez said.
