Bail Ruling For Death Driver Accused Today
A man charged with dangerous driving causing death will have his bail hearing today.
Vishal Shavendra Dayal, 22, is also charged with dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm and dangerous driving.
Appearing before Magistrate Sufia Hamza, Dayal has been remanded till his bail hearing today.
It is alleged that on May 20 Dayal was dangerously driving a motor vehicle that caused the death of Shalat Kumar.
Police prosecutor objected to bail because of the seriousness of the offence and the strength of the prosecution’s case as they have evidence to the charges filed.
The prosecutor also brought to the court’s attention that the injured person is known to Dayal and that he may interfere.
Defence lawyer Pravish Sharma told the court that his client could be released on strict bail conditions whereby he would report to the Nabua Police Station, surrender his passport, present two sureties and not interfere with the witnesses.
Police prosecutor told the court they would seek a second opinion from the Office of the Director Public Prosecutor whether to amend the charges or not.
The bail hearing will be at 2:30pm today.
