Child fears returning to school
His parents claim the child is traumatised and refuses to go to school anymore.
9 year old Shivneet Prasad is still trying to come to terms with the alleged incident.
His parents say they have tried all they could to ensure Shivneet goes back to school, however all their efforts they claim are in vain.
“Shiveent tells me that he no longer feels like going back to school. He says he feels scared now. He also says that whenever he sees the school, he fears what if the teacher locks him up in the freezer again. Sometimes he just runs out of the house or screams at night,” said Subhashni Devi- Mother.
Shivneet is an asthma patient.
Devi says Shivneet tried to go back to school for a week after the incident.
“Shivneet also underwent counselling to ensure he gets well after the incident. He was counselled by a doctor and a counsellor from Lautoka but even that has not helped him. We are expecting a doctor from St. Giles who will try to find out how bad the incident has affected him psychologically,” she said.
The family says they have knocked on every door to get a progress on investigations.
“I want my son to get well as soon as possible so that he can go to school once again and his future is not ruined. I want justice to be done,” she said.
Meanwhile Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro told Fiji One News yesterday that the matter has been given back to the investigating officer by the Divisional Crime Officer to investigate the case further.
